Spiritual Meditation - or Listening to God's Words
What
is meditation? Quite simply, meditation is focusing our undivided attention
on something for a period of time, be it a few moments, or a longer
while. A spiritual meditation is when we focus our undivided attention
on spirit. Spiritual meditation is when we receive God's words. When
we pray to God, we are talking, and God listens. In order to hear God's
replies, we must be silent, and hear God's words. And we can do that
in spiritual meditation.
Spiritual meditation is one of the most relaxing, most spiritually rewarding
acts a human mind can indulge in. The more we practice meditation, the
stronger our bonds become with our Source of Spirit.

Sitting in Meditation
Meditation work best when we have a dedicated spot in which to practice and build up our power.
One of the practical difficulties of meditating is lack of physical space that can be
dedicated solely to meditation. Most of us simply do not have that luxury – to seal off
a space at home and ensure nobody else sits there or otherwise uses it. The meditation seat
solves that problem without upsetting anybody. All one needs to ensure is that nobody else
uses the seat [or even touches it if possible] and your accumulated mediation energies remain
collected in one spot. You can even sit in different places according to convenience and best
of all carry your mediation spot with you if you are traveling. Each time you use the seat you
make it easier to access the deeper levels of mediation in future, because the energies you
accumulate in practice are not dispersed but contained in the seat. This is the prime advantage
of the meditation seat.

Meditation Symbols
Meditation is always simple but rarely easy.
In the beginning people find it of inestimable use to focus their practice with the employment
of a symbol that they can focus their attention upon. These symbols can range from the complex
to the very simple, it being preferable to start with the latter. Advanced meditators can move
on to the use of yantras.
The meditation symbol posters found on indiayogi are a useful place to start your
practice of meditation as they range from the simple to the intermediate stages of effort needed
to maintain focus upon them.
